The Academic Calendar Committee of the University is appointed by the Chancellor. The purpose of
the Committee is to set the academic calendar for all divisions of the University and to discuss specific issues
relating to the calendar. On the Committee are representatives from the Dean's Offices of each school as well as
Student Affairs, Residential Life, Human Resources, and the Chancellor's Office, plus one undergraduate student
and one graduate student.
The educational mission of the University is the promotion of learning among both students and
faculty. The Committee therefore strives to develop calendars for each academic year that provide an optimal amount
of classroom instruction and examination within a manageable timeframe.
New academic calendars are generally established in the spring, four years in advance of
the current academic year.
The Chair of the Academic Calendar Committee is the Director of the Office of Student Records/Registrar.
