Registration
Students must be admitted to one of the Schools or Colleges of Washington
University in order to register. Only students with open major programs will be able to use the on-line
registration system (*see note below regarding Holds). Newly admitted students to the University should
contact their Dean's Office for details regarding registration
All currently enrolled students may register during controlled registration periods.
Consult the Academic Calendar
or your Dean's Office for specific dates and times of on-line registration. Medical School students should check
with the Medical School Registrar or Program Director's Office for
applicable dates and times.
Washington University considers advising to be an important part of your educational experience.
Students are strongly encouraged to formulate their educational goals, make a list of the courses they would like
to take (including alternatives), and review this list with their academic advisor. Most students are required to
meet with their academic advisor prior to registration in order to receive registration authorization for that semester.
The requirement of the Student ID and password combination for access to your records through
the WebSTAC system is an important measure for the security and protection of your private record information.
To safeguard your academic record, you should keep your Student ID and system access numbers confidential at all
times and not share them.
*Students who have a "Hold" on their academic record will not be able to enter the on-line
registration functions in the WebSTAC system. You should check prior to registration to verify there are no
holds on your record. Students on hold should check with the department indicated in order to have the hold removed.
