Requirements:
BACHELOR'S DEGREE REQUIRED. MINIMUM OF SEVEN YEARS OF MAJOR GIFT FUNDRAISING EXPERIENCE, PREFERABLY IN HIGHER EDUCATION. A STRONG DESIRE TO BECOME PART OF THE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY AND CHAMPION THE VALUES OF THE INSTITUTION. EXCELLENT ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS AND EXQUISITE ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND FOLLOW THROUGH. ABILITY TO EXERCISE SOUND JUDGMENT IN DEALING WITH COMPETING PRIORITIES. ABILITY TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY WITHIN ESTABLISHED GUIDELINES AND MEET FREQUENT DEADLINES. SUPERLATIVE INTERPERSONAL SKILLS WITH A DEMONSTRATED ABILITY TO WORK WELL WITH PEOPLE AT ALL LEVELS OF AN ORGANIZATION. FLEXIBILITY IN A FAST-PACED AND EVER-CHANGING WORK ENVIRONMENT. Job Description:
THE SENIOR ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR WILL REPORT TO THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF PRINCIPAL GIFTS AND WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSISTING THE SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ALUMNI AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS TO ORGANIZE AND TRACK WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY IN ST. LOUIS' GREATEST BENEFACTORS. TOGETHER WITH THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, THE SENIOR ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR WILL FOCUS ON THOSE INDIVIDUALS RESIDING IN THE USA AND ABROAD WHO HAVE THE CAPACITY TO MAKE LIFETIME GIFTS OF $5M TO THE UNIVERSITY. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: WORK WITH THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO DEVELOP THE PRINCIPAL GIFTS DONOR POOL AND THE PRINCIPAL GIFTS POTENTIAL DONOR POOL. MAINTAIN THE ONLINE PROSPECT TRACKING SYSTEM FOR PRINCIPAL GIFT DONORS AND PROSPECTS. ASSIST IN THE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF INDIVIDUALIZED STRATEGIES FOR THE IDENTIFICATION, CULTIVATION, SOLICITATION AND STEWARDSHIP OF PRINCIPAL GIFT DONORS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM. MANAGE THE PREPARATION OF ADMINISTRATIVE AND VOLUNTEER BRIEFING MATERIALS, TALKING POINTS, SCRIPTS, PROPOSALS AND OTHER DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR THE SUCCESSFUL CULTIVATION AND SOLICITATION OF PRINCIPAL GIFT LEVEL DONORS. HELP THE EXECUTIVE VICE CHANCELLOR AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DEVELOP THE AGENDA FOR MONTHLY PRINCIPAL GIFTS DONOR REVIEW MEETINGS. ORGANIZE THE DATA THAT WILL BE PRESENTED. ENSURE THAT ALL DONOR ACTIVITY IS RECORDED ACCURATELY AND IN A TIMELY FASHION. ENSURE THAT ALL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE PRINCIPAL GIFTS PORTFOLIO DONORS ARE RECORDED. KEEP COLLEAGUES WELL-INFORMED OF ALL FORMS OF UNIVERSITY OUTREACH TO AND SOLICITATION PLANS FOR THESE DONORS. ASSIST THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR IN DEVELOPING AN ANNUAL WORK PLAN WITH SPECIFIC AND MEASURABLE GOALS. ASSIST IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF STEWARDSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR PRINCIPAL GIFT DONORS. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF PRINCIPAL GIFTS.
