St. Louis Metro Area Code Split--Telephone Number Prefixes


If the first three digits of your phone number match one of the prefixes listed below, your area code will be changing to "636" on May 22. Some prefixes on this list could change before the February 26, 2000 date when use of the new area code is required and 10-digit dialing for local calls between the "314" and "636" area codes is mandatory.

From May 22, 1999, through February 25, 2000, local and long distance callers can reach phone numbers beginning with these three digits using either the new "636" area code or the "314" area code.
