The New Silvers Challenge for the APAP Scholarship Fund

Sally Silvers, LA69, the former National APAP Chair, a Leadership Team member, and the chair of the Mid-Missouri APAP Committee, and her late husband Robert, LA66, announced a $50,000 challenge in 2001 to establish the first APAP endowed scholarship fund in honor of Sally’s parents, Myra T. and Leroy Kopolow. APAP members successfully met the challenge. Kiani Arkus, the first recipient of the APAP Scholarship, graduated in the Class of 2007. The second recipient, Nil Gural, was named from the Class of 2011.

In fall of 2007, the Silvers pledged an additional $25,000. The goal of the New Silvers Challenge for the Myra T. and Leroy Kopolow APAP Scholarship Fund is to increase the endowment to $200,000. By responding generously to this special opportunity, APAP members can make it possible for the University to offer annual scholarships to two students each year. Please help us achieve 100% participation.

The APAP Endowed Scholarship provides resources for student support in perpetuity. It bolsters the University’s ability to admit outstanding students who otherwise could not attend, and makes it possible for outstanding candidates to fulfill their potential. If you are a Washington University graduate, your contribution does even more. Alumni participation helps boost national rankings for undergraduate programs and encourages additional support from corporate and foundation donors.

“Being the APAP scholarship
recipient brought me into what
can truly be labeled a ‘larger
family.’ This scholarship
connected me to people and
to Washington U. in a way
that no other scholarship can
claim to do. I am honored to
have been the first recipient,
and I am glad to join APAP
now as a member.”

"I feel fortunate not because of a
title I received, but because of
